5 Things I Have Started to do on Sundays to Help Me Set it Apart From All the Other Days
Sunday has always been my favorite day of the week! Besides going to church, I try to use Sundays for self-reflection and allow myself to rest after what seemed like a very long week. But during quarantine, and as we are almost to summer, it seems all the days are mushing together and we soon find ourselves in a never-ending loop, like in that movie Groundhogs Day. So how can we make Sundays special, different from every other day? Here is a list of 5 things I have started to do on Sundays to help me set it apart from any other day!
#2- Setting goals and improving talents. This was also a tricky one at first because I didn't believe I had any goals or talents to work on. So I decided to create some! I tried to make them serious, things I really wanted to accomplish. One of the goals I chose was to become a better player at chess. My dad and brothers are very good at this game, and would always beat me way too quickly when we played! I'm still working on this goal, but over the last couple of months I have definitely seen improvements with my strategy and have lasted longer when playing against them!
#3- Journaling. I started to journal a couple years ago and I absolutely love it, hence this new blog! I think journaling really helps your mind to relax and clear out all the stress and/or frustration building up over time! It's also fun to write down memories so years later you look back and remember things you might have forgotten about!
#4- Practice self-care. This can be very fun! For me, it is important to get all my weekend work done on Saturday, so then I have all of Sunday to relax. Some of my favorite things to do when practicing self-care are to take a nice warm bath, use a mud mask, fix my nails, apply lotion to my hands and feet, listen to instrumental music (or just sit in silence), go for a walk, and even taking a nap! I think self-care can look different for everyone. It's just important to make sure you are allowing your mind and body to rest.
#5- Spend the day with family. My parents have always taught me Sundays are family days. And as a kid, I really did not like that rule cause all I wanted to do was hang out with my friends. But as I have grown, I have also learned to love the time I spend with my family! The people in your family are the people who know you the best! Setting aside quality time to spend with loved ones is a great way to make Sundays different from any other day.
Anyway, these are just some of the simple things I like to do when it comes to separating Sunday from all the other days of the week. I hope this helped spark some ideas!
Great blog post!
