The Autumn Season

Image
Autumn is my absolute favorite season! Leaves turning red, orange, yellow, the crisp air against my cheek, late-night apple cider, and everything pumpkin flavor! Ah, the best season ever!                                           A week ago, my brother, his wife, and I went to a hay maze late at night. It was my first time going to one, and oh boy was it an adventure. We kept getting lost and confused every which way. We couldn't remember if we already went one way or if it was a new place to discover. Overall, we spent about 50 minutes total in the maze, which is not bad at all! Weirdly enough, I liked the adventure of getting lost and feeling secluded in the maze. A few days back, my friends and I went to Bridal Veil Falls. We were planning more of a nature walk but spontaneously ended up hiking to the top of the waterfall. And I am glad we did! The colors up there were so bea...

The Beginning of Freshman Year at BYU

Image
My goodness, what a crazy last couple of months it has been! From packing up and leaving Maryland to starting a new life here in Utah. Things are moving at a fast-pace! I have been here at BYU for a little over a month now, and I love it! The campus is surrounded by mountains, which is such a different scenery compared to the tall green trees back in Maryland.                                                             Since arriving at BYU, I have done a lot more over these last few weeks than I have over these last few months. I have hiked the Y, watched a movie at a drive-in theater, and spent the day up in Park City. I went to an art museum, played midnight volleyball, drove up Provo Canyon, and ate at local restaurants. I have made new friendships, witnessed the sunset multiple times, attended my fir...

Graduating During a Pandemic

Image
Welp, I've officially completed 12 years of schooling and got a diploma to prove it! My high school graduation was definitely not what I had in mind! Technically, I had two graduations, the first one I went to pick up my diploma from the school wearing my cap and gown, as well as a face mask, and staying 6 feet apart from all my classmates. The other I watched all the long speeches and awards in the comfort of my corona free home. 👍   Totally NOT what I had imagined graduation would be like!  I'm not complaining though, I appreciate everyone who is trying to make this a special thing, considering the circumstance. I just would not have imagined in a million years this would be my graduation or even senior year. But hey, at least I made it!  Now I am officially a college student. Woo-hoo!  Crazy how fast time flies by! I remember starting off my freshman year thinking I was never going to finish.  Lots of change happens in high schoo...

5 Things I Have Started to do on Sundays to Help Me Set it Apart From All the Other Days

Image
Sunday has always been my favorite day of the week! Besides going to church, I try to use Sundays for self-reflection and allow myself to rest after what seemed like a very long week. But during quarantine, and as we are almost to summer, it seems all the days are mushing together and we soon find ourselves in a never-ending loop, like in that movie Groundhogs Day . So how can we make Sundays special, different from every other day? Here is a list of 5 things I have started to do on Sundays to help me set it apart from any other day! #1- Take a break from social media. Honestly, this was a hard one to do! But it's definitely worth it! At first, I always had to stop myself from opening up the Instagram app on my phone. But as I started to make this into a habit, I found myself enjoying the newfound time I had without wasting it on social media! In the beginning, I felt like I was missing out, but what's the point of taking a break from social media if I use that newfound ...

A Little About Me

Image
Who Is Sydney Williams? Hey friends, my name is Sydney Williams. I am currently living in Maryland (have been my whole life), but at the end of this summer I'll be leaving home to attend the college of my dreams, Brigham Young University! And I'm super excited!  I love to read, bake, paint, and write! I am 18 years old about to head off to college all the way out west at BYU (which is in Utah). I am both super excited ready for this next chapter, but also freaking out thinking about leaving everything I've ever known! I've wanted to start a blog for a while, and I just thought now would be a perfect time! It's the summer before my freshman year of college, and lots of things are about to change! In this blog, I want to incorporate the nice things I love in life, hence the title Life's Nice ssities! I want this to be a positive platform and a place where I can document all my adventures!
